Festival World Tour

The Boulder Adventure Film Festival's World Tour mobilizes this year's finest award winning films, bringing them to life on the big screen in venues around the world. Audiences travel through the lenses of the world's foremost filmmakers & adventurers, stirring contemplative and emotionally charged journeys within. Our standard tour show lasts 2-3 hours and features 3-7 films of varying lengths, each one focusing on different elements of adventure. The films are selected by the festival's jury to provide the highest caliber programming with consideration to the varying demographics and interests of our audience. Along with film the tour brings interactive elements from our Dirt Days Environmental Fair, some of which spotlight the Non-profits and progressive companies we work with.

Based in Boulder Colorado, Adventure Film is rooted in the concept of "making your own legends," thus empowering each of us to create positive change in our world. Every spring our jury selects around 20 films from hundreds of submissions worldwide. In 2006 this competitive selection process delivered new productions from Surfing in Indonesia to Climbing in Patagonia, Flying a Hang-glider over Mount Everest and witnessing the first inside documentary about Burning Man. See the 2007 films now. Filmmakers are awarded in twelve categories ranging from 'Best Adventure Sport ' to the 'Activism Through Adventure Award'.

In the audience, some laugh, some cry, some cheer, and everyone goes home knowing exactly what is possible with today's adventure filmmaking at its finest. This year's tour begins in California and Oregon and then launches for NY, Chamonix, Caracas, Budapest, Buenos Aires and beyond. Why? Because we are a community festival, a world community.

This international forum for the best and most inspiring independent films of the year covers the range of human adventure from heart-stopping athleticism & serious exploration to environmental heroism and gripping tales from the edges of the believable. Adventurers and filmmakers created this festival because we believe in the power of the story, especially the narrative of adventure and awakening to change and challenge the world we live in.
